Alvar is a native New Yorker who went to LaGuardia High School of Art in Manhattan and Rhode Island School of Design.
He also studied art at Bard College, SVA, The Art Student’s League, The University of Buenos Aires, The Studio of Juan Carlos DiStefano and The Studio of Burton Silverman.
Growing up in Manhattan he was a graffiti street artist by the name of Baes. After RISD he started painting abstract expressionist, landscapes, “donuts” and portraits.
After that he worked primarily on oil portraits and creating reportage style digitally colored pen and ink illustration for soccer and surfing publications. These days he’s leaning into pure pen and ink, in traditional and graffiti marker styles.
